Spring Break season is finally here! We’ve made it to the halfway point in the semester and the excuse to travel to warmer, sunnier places and catch up on sleep is right around the corner. Whether you are planning a road trip, hopping on a plane, or just spending a weekend with friends, it’s time to pull out the travel planner and start booking your trip.
Spring break falls at just the right time. The new year has catapulted us into a fast-paced sprint to reach Q1 goals and the excitement of a new school year is just starting to wear off. Spring break lets us refresh when we’re starting to feel burnt out and gives us the chance to have intentional quality time with those we love.
Southern California is often touted as the ‘place where people go to vacation’. And, if you live here, it might feel like the essence of Spring Break is here year-round. However, even if you get to enjoy the California sun every day, you can still be counting down the days until you can ditch the stresses of “real” life. For those from out of town, the need to thaw out from winter necessitates the need to schedule warm-weather fun. No matter where you live, the annual rite of a proper Spring Break is well deserved.
Here are a few Carlsbad destinations that you won’t want to miss out on this Spring Break:
The Carlsbad Flower Fields are something to write home about. The flowers only bloom for 8-10 weeks each year, and so getting a chance to experience them is something not many get to do. This year, The Flower Fields official season starts on March 1, 2022. The ranunculus typically reach peak bloom in April, but the exact dates fluctuate from year-to-year.
Spring Break marks the time of the year when Carlsbad is in full colorful bloom. The Flower Fields cover the 50 acres of hills with a blanket of multi-color giant tecolote ranunculus flowers. There are walking paths throughout the fields, as well as stops along the way to snap a photo for social media.
The Flower Fields are accessible for all travelers visiting Carlsbad during Spring Break. Outside of the fields, there are plenty of spots where bikers and sunbathers can sit and take in the blooms from afar. Inside, there is a whole calendar of activities to enhance the experience. These include things like outdoor concerts, teatime in the gardens, and yoga classes — all within the picturesque setting of the rainbow-colored fields overlooking the coastline.
If you’re in Carlsbad for the first time, or if you’ve lived here for years, LEGOLAND is the tourist destination to visit while you’re here. The theme park is decked out in all of your favorite LEGO characters, and has plenty of activities for the family. This spring, LEGOLAND has two new exciting attractions launching for guests.
SoFi Stadium will “touch down” in Miniland USA just in time for Spring Break. It will be the largest LEGO stadium in the world and is lined up to break the current Guinness World Record.
In addition to SoFi Stadium, the new LEGO Ferrari Build and Race is coming as well. It will feature a life-size LEGO Ferrari F40, and lets guests use their creativity to build, test and race their own LEGO Ferrari.
No Spring Break would be complete without a visit to the coast. In Carlsbad, we have over 8 miles of pristine beaches, stretching as far as the eye can see. No matter what type of beach activity you enjoy, Carlsbad beaches are the best place to stretch out, relax, and watch the shore.
North Carlsbad Beaches stretch from the Oceanside border to the Carlsbad Village. The beaches are open to the public but have a remote feel. There are no lifeguards on duty or public facilities. These beaches offer the perfect place for a long stroll during sunset or a moderate beach hike during the day.
Carlsbad State Beach, on the other hand, features warm water jetties with ideal space to swim, kayak and fish. The Carlsbad seawall is a 4-mile paved walkway that separates the beach from Hwy 101. There are picnic areas, restrooms, and ample parking.
If a Carlsbad getaway seems like the perfect way to welcome the warm weather, Carlsbad resorts have ongoing deals to make booking a room even better. The Park Hyatt Aviara is currently offering an incentive to ‘Spring into Sunshine’ with a complimentary 4th night plus a $100 resort credit that can be used for golf, dining, or spa time when booking a stay between now and April 29th. The Cape Rey is running a ‘Stay to Play’ deal for golfers who want passes to play at the Crossings at Carlsbad.
No matter how you plan to get in the summer spirit, Spring Break is when things start to warm up. Check out our Deals page and book your trip to Carlsbad now for a Spring Break to soak in the sun.
