The Park Hyatt Aviara Resort, Golf Club & Spa is a mainstay in Carlsbad. The resort is a luxurious vacation spot, complete with upscale dining and an award winning golf course. Built in 1997, the Aviara resort is a part of the Park Hyatt hotel chain. The property has long been a beacon of decadence and relaxation for Carlsbad residents. It has received a Forbes Five Star rating and is the recipient of the AAA Five Diamond accolade. The Spanish Colonial architecture that resonates throughout the resort is a nod to Southern California’s rich history. Overlooking the Batiquitos Lagoon and Wildlife Preserve, the coastal retreat has gained critical acclaim. It was voted a top resort spa by Zagat and Conde Nast Traveler and the 18-hole Arnold Palmer-designed golf course has been revered by golf enthusiasts. Golf Digest rated it among the nation’s top 75 golf resorts in 2004. Throughout the years, the Park Hyatt has worked to maintain a standard of coastal luxury. Early last year, the resort announced that it would be investing $50 million dollars to renovate the property. The renovations are scheduled to be completed in the fall of 2020. Here are some highlights that guests can expect this fall.
WATG is heading up design for the renovations. The firm is pulling inspiration from the natural beauty surrounding the resort. The redesigned interiors of the lobby, pools, guest rooms, and Golf Club will work to integrate elements of the 200+ species of wildlife and plants that are home to the space. The resort’s color palette is being updated to exude tranquility. The calming colors of the sea and sand will be woven into the decor and elevated by coastal touches and new furnishings.
The upgrades will offer guests a modern Californian vibe that embraces nature in a new contemporary way.
All 327 of the resort’s guest rooms will be undergoing extensive upgrades. The oversized suites will have residential character that will make guests feel spoiled and at home at the same time. The guest rooms will be reimagined to provide a place for sanctuary and retreat. Upgrades will include the new color pallette, bathroom finishes, and hardwood flooring in the entryways. The furnishings will be refreshed with contemporary coastal pieces that are both chic and comfortable.
In order to elevate the natural landscape and coastal vibe, the design firm is also undertaking the aesthetics of the outdoor areas. Both pools will be reimagined to offer relaxing and extravagant outdoor experiences. The new family pool will have water slides and the adult pool will be upgraded with expanded seating options and new cabanas. Both pools will offer extensive views of the surrounding hills.
All of the restaurant and bar options throughout the resort will also undergo major changes. Exterior terraces will be added so that patrons can enjoy Southern California sunsets year round. The dining experiences will be updated as well, giving guests an immersive culinary adventure with each meal. The concepts for each of the restaurants will be announced in the spring of 2020.
The renowned Golf Club and outdoor spaces will go through their own transformations. A grand staircase will be added to the Palm Courtyard. The event lawn will bring opportunities for large weddings, company events, and festivals. Landscaping upgrades throughout the resort will feature panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean and rolling hills of the lagoon. The Arnold Palmer Golf Course and Club will receive landscaping advances and facility upgrades.
If you are planning a trip to Carlsbad in the near future, keep the Park Hyatt Aviara Resort, Golf Club & Spa on the top of your list. This year’s renovations will impress guests for years to come.
