You might have noticed something new and shiny atop one of our city’s new roundabouts. Positioned on a newly transformed roundabout at Carlsbad Boulevard and State Street, the intricate “Coastal Helix” is a 1,400-pound sculpture by Bay Area artist, Roger White Stoller. It stands at 12 feet tall and, in my humble opinion, a great addition to our town!
And make sure to take a close look at the Coastal Helix. You’ll notice that abstract images of our beautiful city of Carlsbad are woven into the steel lacework of this amazing sculpture. Some of my friends make an appearance within the structure – pelican, whale, crab, and more! Check out this surfer detail designed into the sculpture:
