Things To Do in Carlsbad When it Rains

Every now and then, it rains in Carlsbad. Most of the locals enjoy this because it’s a nice change from all the sunshine we have and reminds us of how lucky we are to live in paradise. I thought, what would I recommend visitors do when they’re in town and it’s raining?

1. Go surf. You’re going to get wet anyway so a little rain won’t hurt. Go rent a board from Carlsbad Pipelines or have Whitlock Surf Experience give you a surf lesson.
2. Go see a movie. I know this might sound a little lame but if you go to Cineopolis in La Costa you’ll feel like you’re watching the movie in a plush Hollywood projection room.
3. Visit our museums. The Museum of Making Music is a fun place to learn about musical instruments and you even get to play some of them. Or you check out the Miniature Craftsmanship Engineering Museum. And finally, visit the Gemological Institute of America to view rare gems and famous jewelry.
4. Visit SEA LIFE Aquarium. The aquarium is open year-round, rain or shine and is a fun time for the whole family.
5. Race go-Karts. Carlsbad is home to K1 Speed, an indoor go-Kart track where both adults and kids can speed around a track and try to beat each other’s times.
