Pumpkin season starts in late September. For the Carlsbad Strawberry Company, this is a perfect transition from sunny summer days of strawberry picking to cool fall nights in the Pumpkin Patch. This year, the fall Pumpkin Patch opened on September 27th and will stay open through November 2nd. In San Diego, the perfect pumpkin can last weeks on your doorstep. The Strawberry Company is the county’s best place to find your 2019 jack-o-lantern. Their Pumpkin Patch is largest in North County, and has everything you need for the perfect fall family picture. They also have a Corn Maze that turns spooky on Friday and Saturday nights and gives Halloween lovers a run for their money.
The U-Pick Pumpkin Patch is open from 9 a.m. – 7 p.m. daily. The convenient hours make it easy for families to visit after work or on the weekends. Multiple tents are set up around the Strawberry Fields for shade. The pumpkins are spread out among the 7 acre space with fall friendly activities and food scattered throughout. There are a ton of fall photo ops available for families. With small gourds for infants and babies, mid sized pumpkins for brothers and sisters, and giant pumpkins for families, the Pumpkin Patch is the perfect backdrop for family photos. The farm surrounding the Pumpkin Patch is continuously growing. The growth has opened up space for more pumpkins, decorations, and activities for the whole family. On the weekends, the Pumpkin Patch offers games and food so that you can make it a full day activity for the whole crew.
The Corn Maze is an exciting challenge for adventurous guests. Southern Californians rarely get to see a real corn field in action, but the Pumpkin Patch’s Corn Maze brings mid-western flare to coastal Carlsbad. The corn towers high over the rows of switchbacks and confusing turns. Guests can run through the maze to see whose time is the fastest or hunker down and use their sense of direction to guide them through the rows of corn.
For Halloween lovers, the maze takes a scary turn at nighttime. The Haunted Corn Maze, fondly named the ‘Field of Screams’, is open Friday and Saturday nights. If the dark alone isn’t enough to make the maze a terrifying adventure, the maze is also littered with things to make you jump around every turn. The Strawberry Company has paired up with the Agua Hedionda Lagoon to transform the friendly Corn Maze from a fun puzzle during the day to a spooky adventure at night. The Haunted Maze is perfect for teenagers and adults who want to make their hearts race.
Fall is the time of year when family starts to gather, temperatures cool off, and holiday planning is simmering in the background. The Carlsbad Strawberry Company’s Pumpkin Patch is a great way to get into the spirit of fall and get excited about dressing up for Halloween. Head over to the Pumpkin Patch to take a tractor ride through the farm. Kids will love the pony rides, face painting, and giant pumpkins. Visit now, or multiple times throughout the month. There is plenty to do and more than enough time to do it!
